Have you stayed at a Montreal hotel? Share your vacation experiences with others.| Holiday Inn - Sherbrooke Street | Lynda |
We stayed for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn on Sherbrooke Street in Montreal at the beginning of August. We got to the hotel not having reservations, as we were just going to pick a hotel once we got there. We had to leave the vehicle with valet parking, or find parking on the street, which is next to impossible. The valet parking was $18 per night. When we got to the front desk there computer was down so we had to wait around in the lobby, they said it would be about 5 minutes, but that they did have a room for us ($159 per night). We thought that would be great. We had to wait about 30 minutes, however the girl at the front desk, said because we were patient, they would upgrade us to the Corporate floor (floors 14 to 19), and the room would be $149 per night. They also gave us $20 voucher for both mornings for breakfast, and also some 2 for 1 coupons for drinks. Because we were on the corporate floors (which ony guests on those floors could go on) there was also free internet and coffee, hot choc, and crossaints available on the 19th floor in a reception area. The room itself was perfect, we had an end room, which gave us a great view of all of Sherbrooke street. The room was clean and roomy. We ate in the restaurant for the two breakfasts and one dinner, and the food was faboulous. We were very impressed with how the bent over backwards to give us the extras. The only downside, was the bar. The service was not very good at all, and there were two young girls who were paid escorts which were entertaining their "dates" in the bar area, which made us very uncomfortable. Even after that, we would still stay in the hotel again, just avoid the bar area.
