October 2005

I went to the Carter Hotel ( 250 West 43rd Street, New York City) in 2002 whit 3 other friends. We are in our early 20's. First of all what can i say , when we arrived a homeless person was sleeping on the stairs of the hotel and it smelled like urine.

The lobby did not have air conditionning and looked dirty.

The elavator was really slow and small and didn`t have any air.

Our first room did not have electricity so we changed and the second room the door didn`t close. The third room seemed fine so we left our luguage there. We came back around 4-5 in the afternoon and we were really tierd because we traveled for several hours in the bus and then walked in the city for several hours so we tought we could take a nap. When we walk up the four of us were really itchy and had red dots on our bodies so i don`t know what it was. My friend went to take a shower but parts of the shower came apart!! We could not stay in this hotel any longer. They only gave our money back for one night ( we booked 2 ) because we stayed a couple of hours in the hotel. We could wright our names on the windows because it had so much dust on them and we found plenty of garbage under our beds.

Marriott - ManhattanBriar ~ Ontario, Canada
September 2005

I went to NYC with three girlfriends for the July long weekend 2005. We stayed at the Marriott hotel in Manhattan at Lexington Ave and 45th. We booked the hotel as a package deal on Expedia.com. We had a scare when we first arrived because reception told us that we might have to do with a king size bed (for 4 of us!) instead of the two doubles we had reserved – apparently selections made on Expedia are not guaranteed as the hotel gives preference to guests paying full price for their rooms. The room was what you would expect for a 3.5 star hotel. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. The lobby was spacious and elegant and the concierge was extremely helpful. We would definitely go back again.
