Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark1

Six Flags Great Escape LodgeMarilou ~ Montreal, Quebec
October 2006

My husband and I live in Albany, approximately and hour from Lake George and The Lodge. The purpose of our stay there was a quick getaway weekend. Both my husband and I are fans of waterparks and waterslides, even though we are way past the age we should be enjoying this kind of activity!!!

The lobby of the Lodge is gorgeous. It all has a "Adirondack Cottage" feel to it. Complete with big wood tables and comfy wood framed couches. The staff at the front desk was very pleasant and accomodating. We arrived on Friday @ approximately 7:30PM and the lobby was mobbed with kids and their parents doing some kind of scavenger hunt. We obviously realized this was a family hotel so we expected to see and hear children. They all seemed like they were having a grand time!

Our room was located on the 4th floor (rrom 440) and we had booked a regular suite. The decor, once again, was Adirondack Cottage Themed. It was cute, but a little cheesy, in my opinion. There were 2 queen beds, 1 couch, 1 table w/ 2 chairs, tv, medium sized fridge and a microwave. The lighting in the room was a little bit gloomy. The beds were very comfortable and the blankets seemed good quality. THe bathroom was a little bit small. Our room faced the parking lot and highway. Please note that most of the rooms in this hotel face the parking lot and highway. You can hear the highway noise from the room. It did not bother us because it was very faint but might annoy some people. The first night, we were woken up by some college kids partying in the room next to ours. Please note that they were being extremely loud, so that is the only reason we could hear them. I dont fault the hotel for bad insulation. I called the front desk and they immediately sent someone up and quieted the rowdy guests.

The waterpark entrance fee is included in the fee for the room, for all guests. As I mentioned before, we are juvenile adults who enjoy waterslides. As far as indoor waterparks go, this one is not bad. It's nothing huge nor do I think it is meant to be. There are 3 slides which are suitable for adults. Two tube like ones and one huge tube where you can sit up to 4 people. THese slides were fun. THere is a hot tub area for adults only. There is a pretty big lazy river. There is a big park like play area which is three stories and has one of those big buckets that spill over everyone with a few mini slides for kids aged 2-5 approximately and 2 medium sized slides which are ok for adults and best suited for 5-12 year olds. THere is a boogie/surf board area where one gets simulate boarding on waves. Great entertainment to watch people get wiped out! There is also a toddler play area. We thought the waterslides were entertaining enough. Just dont go with expecting you'll be entertained in there for 1 week! It is not meant to be the biggest water park ever but rather to be an "addition" or a "perk" to staying at the hotel.

The dining at the hotel and the gift shop were ridiculously priced and I would suggest eating out.

Overall, we had a nice stay and were glad we went and experienced the waterpark.
