Hotel room was awful, old, dirty, stunk badly. Air conditioner was so noisy like somebody was hitting it with a metal. Bed had bugs and lots of mosquitoes in the room. Sheets ware tore and dirty. Walls were destroyed from water leaking. Huge cracks in the wall in the bathroom.
Elevator get stuck.
Customer service along with manager are rude.
Shuttle had to be provided to the airport and it wasn’t.
Very bad, worst hotel experience I ever had and I travel a lot all over the world.
And it wasn’t cheap. I paid about $137 with taxes.

We stayed at the Marriot Residence Inn - a great family hotel
It was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with a pullout couch in the living room. It was clean and spacious with a kitchenette. It was really handy to Aventura Mall about a five minute walk. The staff were very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was the typical, family food and with lots of seating space. The outdoor pool was clean and there were plenty of chairs, towels which the staff kept well stocked. It was very relaxing with a good satelite radio station playing. The only bad part was the large convention on our floor only 2 doors down in a ball room. The crowd hung out in the corridor and werent too eagre to let us through as we came and went from our room with packages. But it was only for about 12 hours.
The weather was great and sunnier than it is here now. We did drive down to the Art Deco section of Miami and walked around and took a few pictures. Very scenic but of course the beaches while clean had rougher sand. There were a lot of nice cafes John and I would have liked to try but Lee wasnt feeling too well. We ended up eating at Subway, Quisnos Ruby Tuesdays and the Olive Garden. But the one great meal was at the Cheesecake factory. The portions were way too large but really good. I had an asparagus and goat cheese and beet salad with caramelized nuts which I cant remember the name of . John and Anna got cheesecake to go.

I stayed at the RIU in South Beach May, 2005 and was quite happy. This was formerly a Best Western property which is very apparent by the rooms/decor, however the rooms are quite spacious and have a mini fridge. The pool area was clean, plenty of towels, however if you arrive later in the day at the pool, the chairs may be hard to find. Nice section of beach out in front of the hotel with a breakwater in front so the waves were calmer. Staff was excellent - any questions they were happy to help. Food at the restaurants were so-so - but there are so many other dining choices in the area it's not a problem!
