Have you stayed at a Florida hotel? Share your vacation experiences with others.| CocoPlum Beach and Tennis Club | Mike & Suzy |
We just returned from a six night (booked seven nights) stay at the CocoPlum Beach and Tennis Club. Definitely thumbs down. The villas are in serious need of some TLC. The hole in the ceiling over our dining table had to be repaired during our stay. The cabinet doors in the baths were falling off, the kitchen was in need of a new ceiling and lighting, and the carpet was stained and/or bleached out. Additionally to call this resort a beach resort is misleading. The beach is very small and covered with smelling sea weed. They bulldozed it off twice during our stay into piles at either side of the beach where it laid there rotting. The water is murky and brown at the beach and generally nasty looking.
The staff seemed less concerned about our reasons for leaving a day early than anywhere else we have traveled in or outside of the States. As I stated, they were more concerned about repairing the hole in the ceiling than whether it inconvenienced us, using the excuse that they needed to get everything structurally sound before hurricane season. I'm not sure how that hole made a difference in the structural soundness of the villa we occupied.
We have traveled to Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Mexico. We will return to any of those locations before taking a trip back to CocoPlum. Don't be fooled by their website. This resort is not anywhere near as nice as the pictures lead you to believe.
Hope this spares someone else from our experience. We will not be return guests.

Not bad for a budget hotel!
We stayed here in july 05 and it wasn't all that bad, nice pool area, great cheap bar and rest, lots of amenities all around. The place is in the process of upgrades which it needs badly since the hurricanes last year, when we were leaving the roof was being done and 1/4 of the rooms were getting done. All in all not bad for the money you pay, i would stay here again. BUT don't get fooled by the name it's not a resort and far from it.
