Loews Denver HotelKathy ~ New Brunswick, Canada
August 2005

We stayed at the Loews Denver Hotel in April 2005 for several nights. The hotel is a small one and is in a mixed business, residential area. The exterior is very bland, and is misleading as the interior is warm and attractive. The web site for the hotel shows pictures that, while accurate look a bit more polished than the actual furnishings. However a bit of shabby chic can be quite comfortable, and this was not so much shabby as comfortable. ( Not a complaint for me)

We had a suite with separate living area and bedroom, very comfortable, unfortunately not much view of the mountains, and none of the others in our group had a spectacular view either (there were several, all with similar suites.)The best views are all on one side of the hotel. The meetings were held in a conference room immediately opposite our room and the view from that room was incredible. The suites were well furnished and quite comfortable, in fact I slept better than usual and I am a light sleeper who has difficulty sleeping. The beds were comfortable, the rooms quiet, and the pillows were the best I have had in a hotel ( I realize one person's dream pillow is not for another) Lots of marble everywhere in the hotel, a pleasant lounge where several of us met one night for drinks, and an excellent restaurant. Every meal was superb. We had all of our breakfasts there, and one dinner. Excellent service, great menu and food well prepared. I was amazed at the tea! A great variety and knowledgeable servers ( in the States! But I guess tea is rising in popularity) We had a large group and tried many of the menu dishes. I don't think anyone was disappointed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

We also used the hotel shuttle service to go to other restaurants in town (and there are many superior ones) as well as to the upscale Cherry Creek Shopping Center. We walked from there to nearby shopping and restaurants. All upscale and lots of variety. It was very pleasant, quite warm , in the last week of April, and cherry blossoms , flowering crabs etc were all out. I recommend the shuttle as it eliminates all problems about parking, drinking and driving, finding strange places at night.

While this was a second choice as we had wanted to be downtown (but due to several conventions we could not get rooms for our large group), I would make it a first choice if I return to Denver.I prefer a smaller hotel to the huge busy convention hotels.
