Have you stayed at a California hotel? Share your vacation experiences with others.| Cortona Inn and Suites | Kris |
My fiance and I went for the dates of March 2, 2006- March 7, 2007
We planned our trip through Flight Centre departing out of Vancouver and let me tell you we will never
deal with Flight Centre again! Both my friend ( who was also planning a trip to Disneyland around the same time)
and I had problems with them. We booked our trip on January 28 and was told that we would be getting our information,
vouchers, transfers etc... within the next couple of weeks. On February 15th we called, after not receiving anything, asking
where our information was. First, they had trouble finding us in the system so they had to call us back to verify that we even booked
a vacation with them and then they said that their wholesaler hadn't sent out the tickets yet. They told us to call back in a week.
Finally one week before we were leaving for our vacation, we got our tickets.
My friend was double charged on her visa by them, which they still won't admit or apologize for, on her trip. After her bank investigated
it was them that had double charged her.
Flight
Our flight was booked for 3pm so by the time we arrived in Anaheim from the airport it was about 9 at night, so we lost the whole day.
Hotel
The hotel was very nice on the outside. Has a spanish feel to it and the grounds are nicely groomed. It is tucked right behind the Clarion hotel and is a
bit of a walk from Disneyland, about 15 minutes.
The inside was a typical hotel room, nothing that distinguishes it from other average hotel rooms. We were on the ground Floor and noticed right
away small ants in the bathroom.
Our first night there, we could here people talking outside of our room, sounded like teenagers, so we didn't get much sleep. The second night was hell, people
were partying and yelling like crazy. We had to intervene and tell them to quiet down, as this was 3 in the morning.
We complained to the front desk and they were apologetic. We asked if we could be transferred to a different room on the second floor and they did that without hesitation.
There were also no ants in this room. We had no problems with noise after that.
The hotel had a complimentary breakfast everyday which was nice...we had our choice of fruit, cereal, coffees, toast etc... we ate there only twice as we were too excited
and wanted to go to Disneyland!!
Weather
We woke up on our first day to a huge storm!!! It was so bad that we called a taxi to drive us to Disneyland...the taxi never showed up so we thought
we'd brave it and walk. About a quarter of the way there, we stopped and bought some $5 umbrellas and they did the trick.
Disneyland was completely dead, which was awesome.. we got to ride on all the rides with no wait what so ever.
During the afternoon, the rain subsided and it stayed overcast but was still nice as we had the run of the park.
It rained about 3 out of the 5 days that we were there, but honestly we didn't care,,, I was just so happy to be there and I hate crowds so it was perfect.
It poured when we went to Universal Studios as well but again, we had the whole place to ourselves.
Our bus guide was amazing, he was funny and very informative about the park, and LA itself.
We missed our bus to Universal Studios originally, as we got the wrong pick-up information from the operator. So we waited 2 hours outside on the street for nothing, we phoned
and complained but they didn't care so we had to go the next day which was our last day.
Saturday was sunny, but not too hot very comfortable weather...The park was very busy as all of the locals have annual passes and want to take advantage of the weather.
Still, the wait for rides was 15 minutes at most.
Overall, our trip was amazing but would not stay at the Clarion again as there are better hotel around.
I just got back on April/07 with my friends from Anaheim and we stayed at the Howard Johnson Hotel... Great hotel no complaints except the vending machine
ate all of our money.
The weather was perfect...not too hot but sunny the whole time.
Eat at Mimi's Cafe.......the place has amazing food, great service and is very kid friendly.
