Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel - Richmond 1

Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel Randi ~ Ottawa, Ontario
October 2005

Well, how to start a review of this most magnificent hotel, in my opinion. I have stayed at countless hotels in N.A. while on business and pleasure alike. It has outshined any hotel I have stayed at. Now, whenever I am in Vancouver I use this as my main hotel, even it if means an extra hour drive. Business, and pleasure alike. I have stayed there after business trips for a few extras days and just took public transportation to downtown Vancouver. Again, I never mind the little inconvenience, as this hotel is an “Oasis” in itself…

Why, you ask…. Hmmmm… Where to begin? The convenience for anyone needing an overnight hotel before, or after a flight. Right upstairs from the U.S departures and a quick walk to domestic. But, everyone I have spoken to that has stayed there for the first time out of convenience, cannot believe what they have just experienced from an airport hotel, after a night at this posh and beautiful place. .

Modern High Tech Rooms with Massive bathrooms. Bathrooms: Walk-in marble shower, separate toilet area, double marble sinks. Separate large jet bathtub, that lets you open up the wood panels to the bedroom, take your remote with you and watch TV at the same time, listen to some relaxing music or just look out to the breathtaking view out the floor to ceiling windows into the North Pacific mountains… Put on the plush robes they provide and order a glass of wine…how blissful.

Bedroom: duvet covers, comfy beds, and as I said floor to ceiling windows looking out to the runway, planes taking off and landing with the mountains in the background. Triple pane soundproof windows. No noise. Remote control, that controls all lighting, heating, TV, and blinds.

Great spa service.

My favorite place every evening was the Jetside bar and lounge. . Great for chatting, or just enjoying the mountain views and the warmth of the fireplace. This is overlooking the runways and the mountains, two fireplaces, Grand Piano, TV’s, snacks for free, WONDERFUL wine list, extensive beer list and apparently the best martinis… Who needs to ever leave this spot? You can order off their appetizer menu and no need for a full dinner.

I just came back from Seattle this week and took my new coworker to the Jetside bar on our three-hour stopover and with the help of the staff, was able to show him around the hotel. Now he cannot wait for our next trip to Vancouver, as this again will be the hotel of choice..

Oh, forget to mention the most kind and professional staff… Service is excellent… The price for corporate rate, again in my opinion is in no comparison to any of the downtown hotels that I have stayed at.

Can you tell I just love this place? Cannot wait till December to go back again, adding on a few extra days to enjoy this hotel… I may never venture outside for those few days.. No need in my little “ Oasis”.
